To elucidate a bit, the total population of America in 2006 is estimated at about 300,000,000-750 out of 300 million is a very small number, so the chance of anything like this ever happening is TINY. Further 95% of all (known) child abuse crimes are committed by family or friends of family. My purpose in this was to show that the church is NOT a moral organization, and most certainly should not be viewed as such. The purpose of this meme is NOT to scaremonger, there is no doubt that the danger of child abuse is VERY real and should certainly be considered by all parents, but you should not be paralyzed by fear.I took the figures for Penn and Teller’s bullshit episode “Stranger Danger” which can be found here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vx6nGxw_hnM

It is something a lot of parents should watch.Knowing that Penn and Teller don’t always get it right, I have checked up on the figures myself and they do appear to be accurate.

Spread the word. Werd.

Top Poster: Birth control is easily attainable and can be found at hospitals, clinics and even many retail stores. Rapists are prosecuted daily. And I don’t trust the government to teach kids personal issues that their parents should teach. The government should not take power away from parents to raise their children as they see fit.
Bottom Left Poster: All abortion is unsafe, as at least one human is killed in every abortion. I’m not voting to make abortion unsafe, I’m voting to save human lives. I support human rights and don’t believe we can infringe on any other human’s right to remain alive; regardless of that human’s age, sex, religion, sexual orientation, etc.
Bottom Right Poster: I fully agree with this poster. Your body is indeed yours and nobody should be able to tell you what you can do with it, so long as you do not harm or kill another human in the process.

Sha-hackin-BOOM.

Rapists should be prosecuted.  But it is rare for rape to produce a pregnancy.

Alright, this is going to get lengthy, but this blogger caught me in a mood. Let me break down for you why your comments on this are wrong:

Birth control is easily attainable and can be found at hospitals, clinics and even many retail stores.

This is an incredibly classist statement. Birth control is expensive and even “cheap” birth control (the $9 pill) can be difficult for people with low incomes. To put this in perspective - I can’t afford Netflix and that costs less per month than even the cheapest birth control does (not to mention, the $9 pill may not be the best choice for my body). There’s also the cost of the visit and if you don’t have insurance, you’re never going to be able to afford that. So then you would say “Clinics help people pay for it, though!” Except that Republicans are trying to pass laws to defund these clinics and make access to them more difficult. There’s also the difficulty of dealing with protesters shaming anyone who walks into a Planned Parenthood, regardless of why they are there. Additionally, these clinics are spread out over states, so not everyone has easy access to one in the first place.

Rapists are prosecuted daily.

Actually, only about 3% of rapists ever serve a single day in jail.

And I don’t trust the government to teach kids personal issues that their parents should teach. The government should not take power away from parents to raise their children as they see fit.

Sex education is not a personal issue. It’s biology. It’s anatomy. And if schools don’t teach it, very few parents will, and even less parents will give correct information or offer any options aside from abstinence. Wanting your child to be abstinent is fine, but you can’t force it on them. As a parent, I would rather be safe and have my child know how to protect themselves if they do decide to have sex. People have sex. It’s a fact of life. More than two-thirds of men and women will have had sex before they turn 20. Sex education in high schools is imperative in preventing pregnancy and transmission of STIs.

All abortion is unsafe, as at least one human is killed in every abortion. I’m not voting to make abortion unsafe, I’m voting to save human lives.

Abortions in a well-funded medical facility are the safest option for the already living human being who is choosing to have one. Women will have abortions whether they are legal or not. Making them illegal forces women into back-alley abortions in unclean environments that lead to more complications. No human being is killed during an abortion. A clump of cells that would not survive on their own are removed, bottom line.

I support human rights and don’t believe we can infringe on any other human’s right to remain alive; regardless of that human’s age, sex, religion, sexual orientation, etc.

Again, a group of cells that cannot survive on their own are not alive. You aren’t keeping anyone alive. If you supported human rights, you would be supporting that already living citizen who is making a choice about their own body.

I fully agree with this poster. Your body is indeed yours and nobody should be able to tell you what you can do with it, so long as you do not harm or kill another human in the process.

But you’re willing to make abortion illegal, which would then harm (and potentially kill) already living women in the process?
A group of cells is not a person.
Sex education is a necessity.
Thinking birth control is readily available is classist.
Good job.
